Lieutenant Abdulsalam S. Kako, USN
Born in Iraq and raised in Memphis, TN, Lieutenant Abdulsalam Kako graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Lieutenant Kako’s first sea assignment was aboard USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) where he served as the PUMA Unmanned Aerial System OIC and Main Propulsion Officer. While on GONZALEZ, he deployed to the 5th and 6th Fleets with the Harry S. Truman Strike Group in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In January 2018, he reported to USS ANTIETAM (CG 54), forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan, where he served as the Fire Control Officer. On ANTIETAM, he completed three patrols in the Pacific and deployed with the Ronald Reagan Strike Group.
LT Kako was selected for the Secretary of the Navy Fleet Scholar Education Program and recently completed a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
Lieutenant Kako’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and multiple unit and service awards.
