Lieutenant Troy M. Thompson II

LT Troy M. Thompson is a native of Marietta, GA. He received his commission from the Naval Academy in 2017 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cyber Security.
Afloat, he served onboard USS GERMANTOWN (LSD-42) as Communications Officer, Cyber Officer, Deck Division Officer, and Assistant First Lieutenant prior to fleeting up as Navigator.
During this time onboard, he successfully returned GERMANTOWN to sea following a 27-month maintenance period executing a full training phase to recertify the ship, followed by subsequent execution of five FDNF patrols in the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).
He was prominent in the planning and execution of joint operations with foreign military entities - coordinating joint deployment and execution of amphibious launch and recovery of JMGDF Amphibious Assault Vehicles and LCACs, and serving as the primary Naval Liaison/Planning Lead for the first ever Tiger Triumph multi-national exercise conducted with India in 2019.
Additional afloat experience includes deployment with the USS ANCHORAGE (LPD-23) during her 2018 deployment through the 5th, 6th, and 7th fleet AORs.
Recently selected as a FY2023 Legislative Fellow, he serves onboard the Office of Legislative Affairs.
LT Thompson’s personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and various service campaign decorations.
