Mr. Gellel served for 30 years as an Australian Army officer and is a graduate of both the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Command and General Staff Course and the Japan National Institute for Defense Studies General Course. His final assignment in Japan was as Australia’s defence attaché to Tokyo. He now serves as the (civilian) head of the Australian Army History Unit.
